What's On at Jasmine Caravan Park
There is an abundance of events, shows and festivals throughout the year, to suit every possible taste. As we wait for 2023 events to be announced, here is just a selection of great events that have taken place in previous years to whet your appetite:
Sport, music, dance, food, art – you name it, and Scarborough probably has a festival for it. The town is famous for one of the longest-running sports festivals anywhere in the world – the annual Cricket Festival, which takes place in August and brings crickets-lovers from all over the world.
Scarborough is also a Mecca for motorcycling fans, with the internationally famous Oliver’s Mount circuit hosting events throughout the year, including the Barry Sheene Road Race Festival.
In recent years, Scarborough has become a must-visit for jazz-lovers, with September’s festival headlined by global stars such as Courtney Pine and Nigel Kennedy. That’s followed in October by the annual surfing festival, the biggest event on the Pro Surf UK circuit.
And if that's not enough, take a look at some of the acts taking to the stage at the Open Air Theatre with Brittany Spears, Bryan Adams and Lionel Richie just some of the acts that have performed in recent years.
For a small town, Filey punches above its weight when it comes to festivals. The Filey Folk Festival, held in the spring, regularly attracts over 100 acts from all over the world to perform in venues around the town, and on the streets.
In the summer, music, dance, theatre and other events attract visitors to the annual week-long Filey Town Festival.
And recently the Filey Fake Festival, featuring a selection of excellent tribute acts including the amazing Kings of Lyon, The Fillers and The Four Fighters, had them rocking on the clifftops.
The Evron Centre hosts a multitude of events, from talks to theatre, and is at the heart of the twice-yearly food festival.
The annual Old Town Summer Festival is a highlight of the year in Bridlington, with theatre, music, food and more. But the town offers more than that, with regular festivals and events celebrating seafood, beer, sailing, surfing – and even a Dickensian Christmas festival.
At Sewerby Hall and Gardens, you can enjoy a vast range of events, including historical re-enactments and living histories, magic days, vehicle rallies, art exhibitions, sporting events, craft fairs, wildlife activities and concerts.
And any visitor to Bridlington is advised to check out what’s happening at The Spa Bridlington while they’re in the town – there’s always something going on, from art exhibitions to top-name music concerts.
Twice a year, Whitby goes over to the dark side – Goths and steampunks gather in the port in the spring and around Hallowe’en for the Goth Festival, a photographer’s heaven with dramatic costumes and make-up everywhere. Just before the autumn event, there’s a horror extravaganza in the International Bram Stoker Film Festival, paying tribute to the creator of Dracula.
Whitby also offers music – Whitby Folk Week and Musicport have loyal followings, and are growing ever year – and there are regular music weekends covering everything from rock and soul to jazz and 60s music at the Whitby Pavilion.
For those who love the sea, there’s the annual Whitby Regatta, the oldest sea regatta on the North East Coast, and sea angling festivals throughout the year, drawing keen fishermen to the town.
North York Moors Events
From the UK’s oldest surviving gooseberry show to an annual World War II extravaganza weekend hosted by the world’s best-known heritage railway, the National Park buzzes with events and festivals – often of the most eccentric kind!
You can also find the more regular music, food and sport festivals, events and summer country shows across the Park’s many beautiful towns and villages – and the National Park Authority itself also organises an annual programme of events, ranging from art exhibitions to treasure hunts and high-octane adventures for families, and including craft workshops where you can make anything from a quilt to a hedgehog house.
