What's in Snainton?

Snainton is our nearest village, and while it doesn’t get the same attention as the likes of Helmsley and Thornton-le-Dale, it’s still a stunning, vibrant village with tons to see and do.

Snainton is our nearest village, and while it doesn’t get the same attention as the likes of Helmsley and Thornton-le-Dale, it’s still a stunning, vibrant village with tons to see and do. You may not hear of it as often as it’s neighbouring villages and towns, but this hidden gem is not one to miss when staying with us. Check out our pick of what Snainton has to offer here.

Snainton village is on the northern side of the beautiful Vale of Pickering, against the foothills of the Tabular Hills. This area of the North York Moors, with its picturesque countryside beauty, makes a perfect location for walks, hikes, and picnics. If you’re bringing your four-legged friend on holiday, it also makes a great spot for dog walks. Head north or south from the village and you’re guaranteed to find some impressive views.

Fancy a bit of golf? Sawdon Pines Golf Course is just minutes north of Snainton village and costs just £5 per round. This 9-hole golf course is great for a family visit, or a quiet game of golf with friends. Club hire is available here too. Ask at Jasmine reception for more information or directions - we’ll be happy to help.

Snainton has its own riding centre too! It’s a 5* rated riding school located just north of the park, offering riding lessons and much more with well educated horses. Stop by for a meet with the horses and ponies, or for the kids there’s fun-filled pony riding days with games and quizzes - there’s activities here for all the family.

Snainton is not short of places to eat either. We recommend The Coachman Inn, where the focus on food remains on sourcing the best quality ingredients, preparing them simply and delivering bags of flavour on the plate. The lunchtime and evening menus offer a broad choice of dishes for everyone, whether you’re looking for a light snack or a much more serious affair. The Coachman Inn is located on the west side of the village.

The village is located perfectly between the famous tourist towns of Scarborough and Pickering too - so you’re never far from coast, country and more attractions. For further afield activities check out our Attractions page.
