Scarborough To Host National Armed Forces Day 2022
Scarborough is proud to finally be holding the National Armed Forces Day after Covid-19 postponed the event in both 2020 and 2021, on the North and South Bays on Saturday 25th June.
Armed Forces Day is a day of showing support for our country’s armed forces and their families, and this year is expected to bring thousands of spectators to the town.
The very best of the RAF including the spectacular Red Arrows will take to the skies as part of a large aerial show over Scarborough’s beaches. There is also expected to be parachute displays and the RAF’s Typhoons and Spitfires among many other aircraft in this jam-packed program of events.
On the ground there will be Royal Marine Corp drummers and an extensive military parade. There is also expected to be a lot of activities on offer, check out the official website for up to date listings and stories from veterans – www.scarborougharmedforcesday.co.uk.
If you’re planning to head our way this summer be sure to come and show your support for all of our hard working armed forces who promote peace, deliver aid across the world, and provide us security.
Scarborough’s North and South Bays will be closed to traffic during the event to allow spectators to gather along the sea front, but there’s also plenty of good viewing spots up on the cliff tops if you don’t want to venture down to the beach. Avoid the crowds by heading to South Cliff Gardens or up near Scarborough Castle.
There is plenty of parking in Scarborough but if you’re heading there from us, you can also use the Park & Ride on Filey Road heading into Scarborough. The traffic can be very busy during June and the buses are one of the best ways to avoid being caught in it. Alternatively, the Number 13 bus runs from Crows Nest to Scarborough around every 30 minutes. We have timetables in reception and on the bulletin board by the shop.
We still have camping pitches available throughout the weekend – grass pitches start at £27.00 per night. Book sooner to ensure a spot on our cliff top field - you might get a good view of the flyovers from up there!
