#TryItTuesday

Each Tuesday & Friday we are joined for the day by our lovely wardens Dave & Judy which means that Damian and I can sneak out for lunch. In the name of customer service we thought we would share some of those places.

We aren't food critics but we know if a pub/restaurant/cafe is clean and welcoming, we know if we've found it easy to choose something off the menu, we know if we've liked that food and we know if we would happily recommend it to others.

All the places are listed in the order we've visited, from most recent:

The Grapes, Ebberston - 2nd June

Again, we were the only people in the pub other than the gentleman on the bar but he was very nice and the pub was lovely and clean. I loved the "Chateau Palmer" sign on the wall. The food was very nice, Damian had steak with big, fat chips whilst I had a "Posh Fish" sandwich which came with skinny fries. Although I didn't see a play area for children this pub did have a separate children's menu for "Little Raisins" which made us both laugh.

The Plough Inn, Wombleton - 19th May

Really lovely food. We were the only people in the pub so can't really comment on the atmosphere but it was nice and clean and the staff were welcoming and polite. In a change to the norm, Damian had gammon and I had the burger - huge platefuls with skinny fries. Kids and well-behaved dogs are welcome. There was lots of table outside and I'm sure, had it not been raining, it would have been lovely to sit there.

The Grapes Inn, Slingsby -12th May

Our friendly local. Catherine and her staff are always very welcoming to guests. The huge log fire is great for warming up if you've been for a walk - or spent the morning grass cutting. The Yorkshire ham sandwiches are very yummy and Damian had the lamb burger. The menu changes daily so its always a nice surprise to see what the choices are.

The Crown and Cushion, Welburn - 5th May

We've eaten here with friends on an evening before so it was nice to go back and try it for lunch. I have to recommend the Fish Buttie - it really was delicious and it came with proper chips. You know the ones I mean right? There was a really nice, friendly atmosphere in the pub and we felt very welcome. Cannot wait to go back towards the end of June to enjoy their fish week.

The White Swan, Thornton-le-Clay - 5th May

Sadly closed on a lunchtime so we will have to wait until the winter to sample this pub.

The Blacksmith's Arms, Swinton - 28th April

It seemed to be moving day when we visited with lots of furniture moving through the pub. Lots of things were missing off the menu so we will try again in the summer and report back then.

We will update this particular blog throughout the season so keep popping back to see where else we have been. We also want to hear your thoughts so if there is somewhere you would like us to try on your behalf or somewhere you would recommend us to visit please contact me at info@robinhoodcaravanpark.co.uk
