Filey has it all - Edwardian charm, one of the best beaches in the country, quaint shops, nature trails, stunning scenery and a friendly, bustling community. Filey is a pleasure, whatever your hobbies and interests.
The five mile stretch of golden sands was recently voted in the top 10 best beaches in the country, and the very best in Yorkshire by Tripadvisor.
A friendly welcome awaits just 2 miles from Crows Nest Caravan Park, where individual businesses and great leisure amenities make any stay, long or short, an absolute joy. Why not browse around the shops, have something to eat and drink, and then stroll along the seafront.
A popular new attraction stands 12 feet tall and gazes out to sea from the Coble Landing. Ray Lonsdales angler sculpture, entitled A High Tide in Short Wellies, or known locally as Finlay, has its place in the town thanks to philanthropist Maureen Robinson. After purchasing a similar statue in Scarborough, Maureen followed it up with a gift for Filey, for which she has 'nothing but fond memories'.
There are plenty of annual events worth arranging your holidays or day trips around, including the Filey Festival of arts, culture and heritage with family fun activities on June 29th to July 7th 2013. The RNLI Lifeboat Weekend is another crowd pleaser, and in July the whole family will love watching the Lions Club annual Donkey Derby at Clarence Fields. Music lovers and also enjoy the sounds of the Filey Folk Festival on May Day Bank Holiday.
Just outside of Filey, is the world famous Muston Scarecrow Festival. Just a short distance from the town the festival visitors can expect to see over 100 scarecrows of various shapes, sizes and themes on display in the village streets and gardens. This year it runs from July 27th to August 4th.
For sports fans the annual Filey Regatta is on July 15th & 16th, and the Filey Fishing Festival from August 31st to September 8th, both are aimed at residents and tourists alike.
Find out about local history and the towns fishing heritage at Filey Museum in Queen Street, whilst animal lovers can get a close look at furry friends and unusual breeds at Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park on Scarborough Road.
A leisurely walk might also take in the magnificent views on Filey Brigg, on Crescent Gardens where a brass band can regularly be seen in the summer and Glen Gardens which is a favourite for families because of its Childrens Play Areas.
